Car Subscription vs. Buying in Malaysia

A no-BS look at how a monthly car subscription stacks up against traditional hire purchase — and where our buy-out option fits in.

The three ways Malaysians drive today

Most Malaysians end up choosing between three models when they need a car: buying one outright with a bank loan (hire purchase), renting short-term, or subscribing month-to-month with everything bundled in. Each has a place — the trick is matching the model to how you actually use the car.

Hire purchase: ownership at a cost

A traditional car loan usually needs a 10-20% down payment, 5-9 years of monthly instalments, plus separate spend on insurance, road tax, servicing and eventual resale. You own the asset at the end, but you also carry the depreciation, the maintenance risk and the paperwork.

    Car subscription: everything included

A subscription like ours is one predictable monthly price that already covers comprehensive insurance, road tax, all scheduled maintenance, tyres, brakes, battery, 24/7 roadside assistance and doorstep delivery. There is no down payment and terms run from 6 to 60 months, so you can commit as short or as long as your life allows.

The buy-out option: our middle ground

Where our subscription is different is the buy-out option. At any point during your term, you can convert the subscription into a purchase — the buy-out price is based on the vehicle's remaining value, offset by part of what you've already paid. In practice, you get to "test drive" ownership before you commit to it.

Which one is right for you?

    • Buy (hire purchase) — you know the car you want, plan to keep it 7+ years, and are comfortable managing insurance, tax and servicing yourself.
    • Subscribe — you want a fixed monthly cost with zero surprises, need flexibility (relocation, foreign work permit, new job), or want to try a car before deciding to own it.
    • Subscribe then buy out — you like a specific car in our fleet and want low commitment now, with the option to make it yours later.
